Those M1's have gone up in price. I bought 4 in 1982 at $150 each. Then, in 1985, I bought a 1903a3 for $100. I guess it was a good use for my tax return.

Why do you have to jump through so many hurdles to get one of those guns? Proof of marksmanship. And membership in a cmp organization.. I have a M1A scout squad in 308. Great gun. I've taken many deer with it.

Boy back in my day we didn’t have those scopes and a shoot off for the overall championships for the presidents 100 and I’m talking this was back near the mid 90’s when I was going to camp Perry for the CMP/national matches. Boy how times have changed In competition shooting.

can someone explain the optics now on service rifles? when i went thru it was all iron sites..... are they scored differently? the only time I ever saw optics was on the 1000 yard matches and some 600 yard matches ....

I was there on July 19 and walk out with a 1903A3 in was a Service grade with a 2 and a 1 on the scale. Brother showed me a M1C that he said I need to add to my M1 collection. Thought about it, but wife said I would buy something but I think she would be unhappy wife 2. Happy wife, happy shooting life.😀

The most prestigious match fired with a service rifle. Only 30 shots, no room for errors. You can’t make up for a bad shot. Mess up, and you have to try again next year. Average 96-97% is the cut to make the President’s Hundred with a service rifle. Oh, one more thing, no sighters. No practice shots. Incredible match run incredibly well by incredible people. From the range officers, the the pit officers, to the tower talker, to the front office staff, we the shooters thank you for making it all run so smoothly.

I love my US rifle caliber 30 M1 aka M1 Garand. Its an all correct WW2 early 1944 in the 2 million serial numver range. Inspected by COL George A. Woody who retired in August 1944 n passed away November 1944 sadly. He was there when the 2 millionth M1 came off the line at 2am during the "MacArthur" shift. Guns website has the 2 millionth garand coming off the line in January of 1944. I thought 2 millionth came off Springfield line in September or October of 1943.

Got my CMP sports air rifle badge l back in 2013 , hoping to start with the high power m1 division to get my second CMP high power badge soon

Does the RM1308EXPERT (.308 Springfield) shoot the same ammo as the RM1308EXPERTWRA. (.308 Winchester)? Are these the same cartridge? (.308 Springfield) and (.308 Winchester)

I can appreciate someone wanting an issue stock. I like your reproduction stock. Makes it look new. I live in NJ and can travel to a store. Even in store purchase has to be sent to a NJ FFL? Makes the online sales a more affordable choice. Are all the CMP M1s from Anniston? Went to my BCT in 1986 at Ft. McClellan right next door.
